Season Prep: How to Get Ready for Festival Season

Festival season is a marathon, not a sprint. The crews who thrive are the ones who prepare long before their first call time - physically, mentally, and logistically.

Here's how to set yourself up for a strong season.

Get your body ready.

Festivals are physically demanding. Long days on your feet, heavy lifting, uneven terrain. Start walking more, strengthen your core, and make sure you're sleeping well before the season kicks off. A sore body by week two means a rough summer.

Audit your gear.

Go through your kit before you need it. Steel-toed boots, work gloves, rain gear, layers for cold nights - all of it should be ready to go. The worst time to discover your boots have worn through is on a 14-hour shift.

Get your LASSO profile current.

Make sure your market preferences, availability, and payment info are all up to date in LASSO before offers start rolling in. Don't miss your first opportunity of the season because your profile was incomplete.

Set your communication habits early.

Festivals move fast and the communication norms matter. Know when to radio, when to text, when to escalate. Build good habits from your first event and they'll carry you through the whole season.

Refresh on the basics.

If it's been a few months, revisit the job description and crew expectations on RISE Event Labor's site. Protocols change, and showing up informed earns you credibility from day one.
